Handcrafted Alpaca

Paco

Rooted in slow fashion, Esencia garments are ethically handcrafted in small batches in partnership with indigenous Andean artisan communities in Peru and Bolivia.

Alpaca fibers are naturally dirt- and odor-resistant. Because of these self-cleaning properties, frequent washing isn't necessary—simply airing out the garment outdoors is often all it takes to refresh it.

Hypoallergenic & Lanolin-Free: Unlike traditional sheep’s wool, alpaca fiber contains no lanolin, making it extraordinarily gentle, non-scratchy, and ideal for sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

Thermal Insulation & Durability: Microscopic hollow air pockets inside alpaca fibers trap heat efficiently while remaining lightweight and breathable. Alpaca is also remarkably durable and resistant to pilling, designed to be passed down through generations.

Because these are pure, natural luxury fibers, please inspect your items upon delivery. Any manufacturing faults must be reported within 8 days of receipt.

Note: Hand wash gently in cold water or use a cold, delicate wool cycle with natural wool shampoo, then lay flat to dry. Damage from external causes—such as snags, moth damage, or high-heat shrinkage—is not covered under warranty.

Traditional Free-Roaming & Sourcing

In general, alpaca and llama yarns from Bolivia do not carry formal organic certification. Alpacas and llamas roam freely across vast open highland pastures in the Andes, grazing naturally without fences or intensive farming techniques—a traditional lifestyle unchanged for centuries.

Our raw fibers are sourced through a cooperative mill in El Alto, Bolivia, directly supporting local highland farmers and traditional artisan knitters. Because organic certification does not currently exist for Bolivian alpaca yarn and would impose a heavy financial burden on these local families, we prioritize direct ethical partnership, animal welfare, and natural fiber purity over formal labels.
