The Greenwash Red Flags
If you see these labels without a verifiable 3rd-party seal (GOTS/OEKO), you are likely paying a premium for standard synthetics.
Usually Rayon/Viscose. A highly chemical-intensive process that results in a synthetic fiber, not a natural one.
Often 85% Polyester or Nylon with just enough cotton or wool to use the word "Natural" on the front of the tag.
A legally unregulated term. It can mean the packaging is recycled while the garment is treated with toxic flame retardants.
The 3,000+ Unknowns
The textile industry uses over 3,000 different chemicals to dye, soften, and treat fabrics. As a mother of five, I am genuinely concerned: we simply do not know the long-term effects of these chemicals being absorbed through a child's skin—which is 30% thinner than ours. This is why "clean" isn't a trend; it's a necessity.
